I'm unashamed to admit that Anthony's plaintive voice in Think of Me When They Sound brings me close to tears.

Violent Waves is the perfect name for this record. Both the songs themselves and the entire album have an undulating flow to them. It's like being alone on a ship in the middle of the sea. It starts off with a storm unfolding, the clouds darkening, and eventually lightning piercing through the sky (Birth of Econ). Then the storm unleashes all its power and the waves start crashing into the boat (Sharp Practice). Then there's a calm (Suitcase) before the second storm (The Lottery). Etc, etc. The dynamic contrast and flow of VW really makes it beautiful.

i dont know if its just me, but i actually like the low quality on the leak for some reason it makes it sound raw and idk but i was high and i noticed it how raw it sounded. fuck i love it

it's killing me.

that and the transitions.

I just know it's going to sound that much better.

the vocals and stuff will still sound raw. you can tell.

Juturna>Violent Waves=On Letting Go>Blue Sky Noise

Slightly disappointing that they're still obsessed with Zeitgeist and conspiracy theory's but this album is simply gorgeous. The lottery is fucking amazing, but honestly I just skip to the middle of the song so I can get to crying faster.

Come at me.

Its been a while since I posted here but I just couldn't resist..I've only listened to the album a couple times all the way through and its pretty much a masterpiece. I have to admit I was a lil nervous of where they'd take this one but now I realize I should a had more faith.....I have to agree with how the album rocks you back and forth like violent waves but after a couple listens I think these violent waves are a metaphor of life in general almost as if it were a concept album...I don't want to get into a whole huge ass explanation but I think of the first few tracks like they're everyday life struggles (references to money, etc) up until the instrumental at the end of my only friend which I think of like the beginning of a dream sequence which leads into the crest of the wave- phantasmagoria which the word itself means flashes of images like in a dream etc (sorry if the def. wasn't needed, I never heard that word before lol) and then there's a reference to not being awake at all in bird sounds which ultimately leads to the desperation at the end of I'll find away like when in a dream you'd do anything to have things go your way or something like that..and then ends with another instrumental almost like to signify the end of the dream sequence...

that was more than I planned to say whoops lol sorry if I rambled hahaha

Every damn time the lottery starts (and the volume is at max) it scares the shit out of me. I know it's going to happen too, but the brief moment of silence, then blast of noise still gets me haha

Bird Sounds is my least favorite on the record. Lately, I've felt very attached to My Only Friend.

flac and apple lossless will sound the best, and the same (lossless). Apple Lossless will work with iTunes/ iPods, and FLAC is more of an open-source codec if you're into other players.

320 is the highest possible for an MP3, and it probably all you need to be satisfied with it. It will also save you disk space. lossless files are like ten times larger, which is where the extra quality comes from. obviously, MP3s work with almost any device/ player.

I'm getting Apple Lossless, because that's what all my circa albums are in. if you get a converter, you can convert between ALAC and FLAC without losing any noticeable information/ quality. (dbpoweramp music converter is what I use)

there's a good chance you won't notice the difference in quality unless you have a good pair of headphones or a really nice stereo though.

I just got 320 mp3--It's the most convenient for me. I figured I could always download the FLAC/Lossless version if I wanted to. I couldn't for the life of me tell the difference from 320 and lossless, personally.

Took me a while to decide and a whole lot of listens but my favorite 5 songs are the following (probably in order, I keep changing my mind slightly):
Brother Song
Blood From A Stone
Phantasmagoria
I'll Find A Way
My Only Friend

I don't really like the birth of the economic hitman all that much. I love Anthony's voice but for whatever reason the vocals just don't do anything for me in that one. Bird sounds is another song I'm not real fond of. That's not to say I don't like them, they're still excellent and I won't be skipping over them they're just not favorites and wouldn't make a greatest hits cut for me.
