Johnotronz 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2010 Here's the rhythm guitar that I figured out from the acoustic version. I imagine that it is the same when played electric. A# - {x x 8 7 6 x} C# - {x x 11 10 9 x} F# - {x x 4 3 2 x} G# - {x x 6 5 4 x} D# - {x 6 x 8 x x} D - {x 5 x 7 x x} C# Octave - {x 4 x 6 x x} B - {x 2 x 4 x x} A# Octave - {x 1 x 3 x x} F# Octave - {x 9 x 11 x x} G - {x 10 x 12 x x} C - {x 3 x 5 x x} A# C# We read the signs completely backwards A# C# No one could see if we ended up F# Where we needed to be G# A# to find out how it all works with C# so many partners A# C# and nobody wants, nobody wants to sit F# G# A# behind the wheel, behind the wheel D# D Who's the one pounding the gears C# Octave avoiding the crowds B keeping their ear to the ground? D# F# Oct. Oh I’ve made a mistake C# Oct. B A# Oct. I never learned how to get back to the place, ohhh G F# Oct. A# Oct. C D# Where have all the signs gone? (In our lives, in our lives) G F# Oct. A# Oct. C D# I don't know where I am without them (In our lives) A# A# A# C# (Get your own map) This is my first tab ever, and I hope I did it well. Fill in the gaps for the other lyrics that I left out due to lack of work ethic. It took me long enough to get the chords aligned properly with the lyrics I have. If this tab sucks in any way, I might post a video of me playing it to help.

Up Against The Wall 0 Report post Posted May 31, 2010 Guitars tuned to Eb, try this instead for the beginning: x x x 8 7 7 x x x 11 10 10 x x x 4 3 3 x x x 6 5
Up Against The Wall 0 Report post Posted June 1, 2010 I watched a couple acoustic versions and also the CD versions and am pretty sure I have this song 100% tabbed out, im gonna do a cover of it.

Up Against The Wall 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2010 That doesn't sound too nice... You are playing those chords wrong then...
Johnotronz 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2010 No, that's absolutely not the chord formation that Colin is playing.
Edward Whelan 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2010 What makes you so sure? I'm playing it right now and it sounds pretty close to the album version, if not spot on. Not trying to be mean, I just want to know why you're so sure of what Colin is or isn't playing.
Johnotronz 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2010 I've watched enough videos of the song to see that his fingers aren't shaped in that sort of chord. It's also missing the lower note, and it has a higher note. I really don't think that's correct. EDIT: Not hitting the first string at all, and he's not playing that high on the fretboard. Up Against The Wall 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2010 100% sure that is the chord shape and is that same shape just moved around, whether you add the high E or leave off the note on the D string its still the same chord whether its xxx877 xx987x xx9877 Use your ears instead of your eyes and just listen to the first 10 seconds of this x_7-0o8Hlis So if you want to play it this way you can: x x 9 8 7 x x x 12 11 10 x x x 5 4 3 x x x 7 6 5 x
Johnotronz 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2010 Dudebro, there's totally not a high note in that chord. I've used both my eyes and ears to come to this conclusion.
Up Against The Wall 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2010 Dudebro, there's totally not a high note in that chord. I've used both my eyes and ears to come to this conclusion. On the album version I am almost positive the high E is being played at the very beginning.
Johnotronz 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2010 If I am missing that note, it's most certainly played as a variation of my chord setup. Example: Instead of {x x 8 7 6 x}, it would be {x x 8 7 6 6}; that sounds fine. I'm positive that it's played in Standard with that positioning.

Well my guitar is tuned to Eb and I have played the whole song through both guitar parts and it sounds fine. They were tuned to Eb most of the last album also. Johnotronz 0 Report post Posted June 6, 2010 If you look again at the picture I posted above, you will see that he starts on the 6th fret. It's in standard.
Up Against The Wall 0 Report post Posted June 6, 2010 If you look again at the picture I posted above, you will see that he starts on the 6th fret. It's in standard. So play it in whatever tuning you want, theres not a bunch of open chords in the song so it doesn't matter.
